Pregnancy

Congratulations to our stud, ITALIAN STALLION, and our gorgeous import, BRENDA. We have four of the cutest, chunkiest babies, and we could not be happier!

Delivery Day

Congratulations to our DKV families! Brenda delivered four very healthy babies, two males and two females. The delivery was long and hard for Brenda sine these babies were whoppers and all took their time being delivered. In the end, our Italian Stallion and Brenda Rottweiler puppies are healthy and gorgeous, and went right to nursing minutes after being born. That was very impressive! Mama is also doing perfectly and absolutely adores her new babies. We could not be happier. Congratulations!

Week 1 Update

Hello DKV family! Welcome to you litter page. Week one went great. The babies are doing amazing. I have to say, these are some of the most gorgeous puppies ever. They are just fat, happy, and stunning! During the first two weeks of life, there is not much action. The puppies stay right next to mama every minute of the day, specifically because they are unable to regulate their body temperature at this young age. As a result, they have to stay next to mama to stay warm. They also sleep approximately 23 hours out of the day. Yep, you read that correctly. They only wake up for about five minutes every two hours to nurse, and they instantly fall back to sleep. The puppies eyes and ears are also sealed shut during the first two weeks of life, so they cannot see or hear. Brenda is doing great and she is the perfect mother. That being said, your babies are in great hands and doing perfectly.

I hope everyone enjoys the photos. They are not the best at this age because we have to be quick. Not only because they can chill quickly but because mama does not like it when her newborns are taken away. LOL. Aren’t they just perfect!

Week 2 Update

Hello DKV family! Your babies are all doing great. Not much different this week from last. The babies continue to stay next to mama at all times and wake up just to nurse. They are all getting so big, and we are just blown away by how chunky they are. This is very typical of puppies out of Brenda though. She produces huge pups!

We are starting to handle the pups a little more this week, just to get them used to being held. Brenda still keeps her eye right on us and does not let us go too far before she begins to get vocal. LOL. She is such a great mom and really loves her babies.

One new change is the puppies eyes are beginning to crack open. This is always my favorite time because I love when I can look into the puppies eyes and they look back at me! This will be a fun surprise for everyone when we get new photos. Usually, we do individual photos at 1, 3, 5, and 7 weeks. I will try to grab a group photos of the babies during the week however.

That’s all for now. I hope everyone has a terrific week!

Week 3 Update

Hello DKV family! We made it to week three. I know everyone is so eager to see the babies, so I took some individual photos today. Oh my goodness, they are the cutest babies every. They are chunky and just too adorable to describe. They did really well during the photos but they were eager to get back to mama. And look, their eyes are open!

Mama is doing great and continues to be the best mom ever. The puppies continue to stay pretty close to her at all times. They like to keep their food close. LOL.

The babies are beginning to walk and waddle around a little. Their ears have also opened so they are reacting to sound and I even hear one or two bark and I closed the door. LOL. Overall, the babies are perfect and I hope you love the photos!

Week 4 Update

Hello, DKV family! The puppies are doing amazing, as you will see below. They have HUGE appetites and are little bears! I just love how thick and chunky they are.

Brenda continues to be a wonderful mom to her puppies. She is so protective and hates when we take her babies away, even for just a few minutes. We are beginning to pick the babies up more to get them used to being held and loved on. They are so soft and loveable.

Overall, they are adjusting well. They are getting used to new sounds and beginning to explore a little away from mama. We introduced toys, but they just looked at them like… why did you leave these things here. LOL. That will change soon enough.

I took some videos this week so everyone can see how big the babies have gotten. Enjoy!

Week 5 Update

Hello, DKV family! Time is really flying by this month. I cannot believe we are at week five already. The babies are doing great of course. They continue to get chunkier and chunkier each day. I think I am just going to keep all four of them because I don’t want to part with them. LOL.

Angel has introduced some puppy food to the babies and they seem to love it. Of course, they are still nursing on mama as well. We simply start to introduce them slowly to kibble, so when they go home at eight weeks of age, they will have a good appetite for their kibble.

Brenda is doing great but seems to enjoy her breaks outside a little more. LOL. Now that the pups are getting bigger and more playful, they like to bother mama nonstop. Whether it’s snuggling and crawling under her arms, trying to catch her wagging tail, chewing on an ear as she sleeps, or trying to run and nurse every time Brenda moves a muscle, I understand why she is enjoying her alone time outside. LOL.

The pups are beginning to play with their toys a little. We have to take the toys away when they are with mama, or Brenda will take them all for herself. It’s funny how all four puppies always want the same toy. It does not matter how many I put in the whelping box, but that is the same with every single litter. It was even the same with my kids. LOL.

I did not take any photos this week, but I will post a bunch for week 6 and that is when we will begin our selection process. Enjoy your weekend everyone!

Week 6 Update

Hello, DKV family! We are getting close to the end, and soon your baby DKV Rottweiler puppy will be in your home enjoying the holiday season with you. We are now halfway through week six, and the puppies are weaned off of mama and getting used to eating puppy kibble. As I have said every single week, these babies have a great appetite. They are all HUGE. Let me repeat… they are all HUGE!!! Oh my goodness, what bear cubs.

The puppies are playing with toys, wresting with each other, and quickly run over to the door when they hear someone walk by. We learned today that the girls do not like their nails grinded. It’s definitely something that you will have to work with while they  are still young, so it will be easier as they get larger. Angel likes to grind a single nail each day. That way, it’s not too much on the puppy at once, and they will begin to get used to it slowly. Consistency is key. The boys did not mind it at all, but I would recommend doing the same just to keep it that way.

Your babies will all go to the vet this coming week on Wednesday. Once we receive health clearances on all the puppies, we will begin our final selections on Thursday and complete the final paperwork by early the following week. I have sent out emails with information on food, health, tips and advice. If you have any questions, that I might not have covered, please don’t hesitate to email me. Below, is our final set of photos. I will do a video next week, and that will be it! Enjoy!

Week 7 Update

Hello DKV family! We made it to week seven. We are nearing the end, and your baby DKV Rottweiler will be home in your arms in just a few days! Overall, the puppies could not be more perfect. They are playing hard, eating (and enjoying) their kibble, and striving in every way possible. They are ridiculously gorgeous and HUGE. Angel and I are extremely impressed with this combination and can’t wait to repeat it one day, so we can also keep an offspring from this combination.

I have to say that the puppies are very consistent when it comes to energy level and overall behavior. Usually, when you have a large litter of eight puppies or so, one will stand out as an alpha, one more submissive, and so forth. When you have a smaller litter, it is common for the pups to be more consistent since there is not as much competition, such as getting to the food bowl first, for example. That being said, this litter will come down to more look preference than overall personality preference.

The puppies go the vet on Wednesday and will receive their USDA health certificates to travel home. Health certificates have to be issued within the week of travel to be valid. We will reach out to everyone individually this week and do our official puppy selections. I will then type up the purchase contract and email that over as well. I also have the AKC registrations that I will transfer over. This will all be done in the same day since we only have four pups. I am planning to do this paperwork on Thursday so I have the final vet details (Wed) to add to the documents. I have received our puppy carriers in the mail for our customers who purchased puppy flights. My sons will be traveling home this weekend for their deliveries. Everything is on schedule! It has been such a crazy few weeks for Angel and I getting ready for our son’s wedding, so we would like to say THANK YOU for your patience with emails and updates. Our son gets married in two weeks, OMG. This is why I did not get my update done in time last night. I had to shop for final wedding supplies. We all have an exciting month ahead of us. Just a few more days y’all.
