Week 1 Update
Hello DKV Family!
Your babies are finally born and the wait is now over. Yay! Delivery went well. Loca Luna was a pro and the delivery was easy peasy. Luna is an excellent mom. She keeps her eyes on her puppies at all times. If she hears one crying, she is scooping the baby close to her. She is amazing. Angel always says Luna has extra sugar in her milk, because her babies are always super chunky! These puppies are thick and so adorable!
In my other litter updates, I explain that Angel sets his alarm clock for every 2 hours the first 5 days after a DKV litter is born. Believe it or not, this is 100% true. Even when he is dealing with an experienced mama, like Luna, he still checks on them every two hours to makes sure all is well and every puppy is nursing and staying warm. This attention to detail, as well as the 24-hour hands-on care, is what makes Angel such an amazing breeder. You can be confident your babies are being looked after closely and receiving the best care possible!
The only change this week is that the puppies had their tails docked and dew claws removed. Eyes and ears are still sealed shut, so nothing exciting going on just yet. This week is just about mama bonding with her babies, Angel making sure the babies are fed constantly, and keeping the babies warm through the day. That is extremely important because puppies are unable to regulate their body temperature this young.
Here are some photos for you to enjoy. I promise these puppies are not dirty. On the contrary, these puppies are super clean! Mama, had just licked them for the 10th time, probably… that’s why they are wet. <3 Check back here next weekend for our next update.
Week 2 Update
Hello DKV family!
These little babies are so, so fat! I am not exaggerating, they are little chunkers. They are just so adorable to watch as they squirm over to mama. I said it last week, Luna must have extra sugar in her milk because her babies are always so dang chunky. I guess it just means she is a good mama and always makes sure her babies are fed. LOL
Eyes are now open and it is such a treat to see these beautiful babies look back at you. That never gets old. The puppies ears have all opened as well, so now they can hear also. This is always a fun stage to watch these babies react to new sights and especially sounds.
This will be another week of just watching these babies grow. At this young age, these puppies just nurse and sleep mostly. They don’t quite walk yet, they just squirm and waddle close to mama to stay warm. Right now, they are just eating, sleeping, and growing strong, so we just let nature take its course.
In the next two weeks, we will see lots of changes. But for now, we will enjoy these simple stages. Have a blessed evening everyone.
Week 3 Update
Hello DKV Family!
Your babies are on week three and they are continuing to strive. Loca Luna is such a great mom and she is making our job extremely easy. Every time we check on the babies, they are all corralled in next to mama. They are either nursing or sleeping. They are so fat they look like baby seals.
The babies are enjoying their new sights and sounds. When we come over, they look up at us and wonder why we are bothering them. If you make a sound too loud, one might even do a tiny baby bark, which is too cute! They know the sound of the whelping box door. When they hear it open, they know mama is coming in and they get sooooo excited!
Mobility is getting better. The Rottweiler puppies are learning to walk but they still fall and roll over occasionally. It’s just so precious to watch them learn. When Luna returns to her whelping box after being outside, the first place she goes it to drink some water from her water bucket. Well, when we open the whelping box door, they rush to Luna and attach onto her nipples. They act as if they did not just finish eating an hour prior. All of those chubby puppies just hang and nurse as Luna gets her drink. It is too funny. When she is done, she lays right down and they continue to nurse. It just cracks me up that they cannot wait those 2 minutes for mama to get a drink.
The babies are starting to play with each other. They will baby wrestle and gum each other. Since they are starting to get curious and playful, we will introduce some toys to them next. Once teeth come in, we will also be introducing some puppy food to go with mama’s milk. Until next week…

Week 4 Update
Hello DKV Family!
Can you believe we are halfway there, y’all! Puppies are doing great. Puppies are super curious and want to check everything out. They are also getting used to being picked up and come running over when we walk by the whelping box. They are just the cutest puppies ever.
Appetites are wonderful. So wonderful, that Angel had to introduce puppy food last week in order to keep the babies satisfied. They are still nursing on mama of course, but the puppy food just adds that extra bit that was needed to keep them satisfied since they are growing so fast. I took some photos of their first day experiencing food. They made a huge mess but it was super cute. When mama returned to the whelping box, they immediately ran to get some milk to wash down their puppy kibble, and Luna made sure she licked the bowl clean. Even when the puppies finished nursing, they continued to lick each other’s faces. Too precious. Hope you enjoy the messy photos!

Week 5 Update
Hello DKV Family!
These puppies continue to grow, and grow, and grow, and we just love watching them change day-by-day. They are all so gorgeous and we could not be more pleased. We are also watching the babies very closely to learn their personalities. Puppies were introduced to toys and they seem to think they are okay. They definitely were not too impressed, but that will change. By next week, they will all be wrestling each other for a toy! LOL.
So, here is what we have planned… we will get some individual puppy photos for everyone, probably during the weekend, now that the puppies are a bit older. This will allow you to see each puppy in detail and begin to compare. Puppies will go to their first vet visit next week at a 6 weeks. During this visit, they will receive their first vaccine, fecal test, heart exam, and overall health check. Then, I will begin to complete official paperwork and start reserving puppy transports!!! It will be a busy week next week!
Week 6 Update
Hello family!
Well, puppies are now 6 weeks old. Angel brought the babies into the vet for a wellness check and to receive their first set of puppy vaccines. Everyone did great. All pups were averaging a whopping 9-10 lbs. Temperatures were all good. No heart murmurs were detected. Last, all individual fecals came back negative for worms or parasites. That being said, we have a clear bill of health and can start selecting puppies this coming week!!!
If you don’t know, Angel and I are in the middle of a move, so we have been extremely busy to say the least. I plan to get a new set of individual puppy photos on Tuesday and I will post them below once I have them completed. Then, we will start our official puppy selections that same afternoon. I have to say that this litter is so ridiculously consistent. Seriously, you can almost put your hand in a bag and grab one blindfolded, and be 1-00% satisfied. This does not surprise us at all since that is what we have come to expect from puppies at of Loca Luna.
I believe we have all flights, deliveries, and pick-ups scheduled. This afternoon, I will send out a long email with important information. Please complete the highlighted sections and return back to me at your earliest convenience. Besides that, please take the time to read the email carefully. It will provide a lot of information on general care, feeding, grooming, what to expect, and some helpful tips. If you have any questions, you know how to reach me!

Week 7 Update
Hello everyone!
We have made it to week 7!!! Time to pick your puppy!!!
I took a few individual photos of each puppy. If you have never taken puppy photos, it truly is an all day event. You have to jump around and make weird sounds and act like a complete fool, just to get them to stay still and look at you for a full second to get that special shot! I will send out emails tomorrow morning and we will begin our selection process!!!
